Bamboo--an essential element in low-carbon buildings(1)

China has become a big manufacturer of bamboo products in the building materials industry. Bamboo is a high-quality building material with soft color, clear bamboo texture, and smooth hand feeling. It gives users a good sense of vision, smell and touch. It has good toughness and high strength, and can be made into a truss to solve the large span of the building problem. Meanwhile, bamboo is a kind of ecological and environmentally friendly green building materials. It is a fast-growing plant(about 5-year), which is much faster than that of wood(about 25-30 years or more). After the use life time, the material can be completely recycled and reused. 

 1. Application prospects of bamboo building material

 1) China is rich in bamboo resources, and bamboo is an ideal material to save wood and replace wood. Bamboo has excellent mechanical properties. The tensile strength of moso bamboo is 203 MPa, which is 2.48 times that of fir; the compressive strength is 79 MPa, which is twice that of fir; the shear strength is 161 MPa, which is 2.2 times that of fir; , Its  short growth cycle, hardness and water resistance are better than fir.

2) Bamboo is healthy and upright, tough and straight, and can express the positive attitude of the life, so it is often used in architecture and garden landscaping. Many people pointed out that the yellow color(after removing the green) of the bamboo surface makes people feel very warm. Bamboo wall decoration is not inferior to traditional wood veneer. As far as the stability of the material itself is concerned, bamboo is also stronger than wood. Professional outdoor bamboo paving materials can not only retain the surface texture effect of the bamboo itself, but its strict anti-corrosion processing process also makes the performance of the bamboo more stable, which can effectively extend the use life of the outdoor floor, and the overall effect is better.

3) Outdoor flooring is very common in public places and private courtyards, and professionally processed anti-corrosion bamboo can completely replace traditional anti-corrosion wood in outdoor ground and building exterior wall decoration.
